Design Principles
We are all different, but to greater or lesser extent we like our home to be a reflection of our character and style, an uplifting place, and a place of comfortable retreat.
Good design is achieved by adopting a holistic design process. Sustainable Homes aims to understand your site and your needs, wants and desires before commencing to design you a home. That’s why our houses are aesthetically pleasing, great places to live in, and environmentally friendly.
Sustainable design
Reducing the environmental footprint of housing is a core commitment of our business.

Beauty and contemporary design
Beautiful buildings are created by embracing the design principles of form, function, proportion and style.
We don’t aim to just create today’s fashion statement but instead we design houses that are intrinsically beautiful and hence don’t date after a few years.
Planning
Good planning is a product of understanding how functional spaces work and go together, and understanding how people want to live in and enjoy their home. We don’t believe that bigger is always better and understand that most humans have a need for both generous open spaces and comfortable retreats.
Space efficiently affords you more usable space for less money (initial and running costs), and a reduced environmental footprint.
Future proofing
To prevent the devastation of our planet from global warming, governments will have to significantly increase the cost of electricity, both as a disincentive to its use, and to cover the extra cost of producing clean energy. Whether we produce clean energy by using renewable wind, solar or tidal energy or by capturing the carbon from coal fired power stations, clean energy will unfortunately cost all Australians a lot more than we currently pay.
The realisation of the consequences of not reducing our greenhouse emissions is pressuring communities to quickly become more environmentally sustainable. The resulting changes are going to dramatically change the way houses are valued. Very simply, high energy using environmentally unfriendly houses are going to have less financial worth in the future.
Future proof your family by building a sustainable home, that way both you and the environment have secure futures.
